*Andrew J. Buckley (clarinet) Album Release Concert

  • 5 Short Piece for Clarinet and Piano

Andrew J. Buckley, clarinet
Chanmi Lee, piano

Notes by Andrew:

“As the 2021 Krannert Debut Artist, I have been given the incredible opportunity to record in the Foellinger Great Hall at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts with the assistance of the Krannert audio team. The recording of this album would not have been possible without their dedication and knowledge, for which I am extremely grateful!

As I was deciding on how to use my recording time at The Krannert Center, I often went back and forth between deciding to record my favorite works, and trying something new. In the end, I realized that recording my favorite masterworks for the clarinet would seem pointless as so many virtuosi of the past have already produced definitive recordings. To that end, I decided to go in a new direction...

The title Where We Go Next is not at all a question. Instead, it is a statement of where "we", the artists of this youngest generation, are headed musically. As we look to add our own voices to the cannon of great composers of the past, I realized that composers and performers of this generation do not receive enough recognition. It is my goal that this album and these new pieces will inject a newer and younger voice into the clarinet repertoire, and serve to bring the artistic works of our young generation out into the light of the professional world!”
